Who’s That Girl? Lola Parker … December 2011

Lola Parker
Model/ Actress

ACM: When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion model and why?

LOLA: When I was about fifteen. I was shopping at Fashion Bug and they asked for junior plus size models for their runway show to present their fall line. I thought it would be fun. After that I was hooked. I did a few similar shows and then nothing for about eight years. After the military I was determined to get back in to it. When I walk a runway I feel fearless, there’s no other feeling quite like it.

ACM: Being that you’re not originally from California, tell us where you’re from and what brought you here?

LOLA: I’m originally from Fairbanks, Alaska. I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams in the art world as a model and actress.

ACM: What are some of your accomplishments as a model?

LOLA: My first big show in Los Angeles, was Full Figured Fashion Week but my greatest runway accomplishment was walking in L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival in Australia. I always dreamed of working overseas and I can’t believe actually happened. I also have modeled for some amazing designers, and was featured in Plus Magazine.

ACM: How has modeling changed other aspects of your life?

LOLA: It has definitely made me more confident, gave me opportunities to travel and has giving me a family away from home.

ACM: Do you have any advice for aspiring fashion models?

LOLA: Do your research when you’re looking for an agency, if they ask for money up front then it’s probably not for you. Don’t be easily discouraged, you will more than likely hear more no’s then yes’s. And practice makes perfect. Modeling is not easy. You have to practice posing, face expressions and your runway walk.

ACM: What are your goals as a model?

LOLA: I would love to be on the cover of Vogue, see myself on a billboard in New York and walk in Paris Fashion Week.

ACM: How do you see yourself progress in this field?

LOLA: The sky’s the limit.

ACM: Do you have an article of clothing that you absolutely cannot live without?

LOLA: My black leather jacket, and my Victoria Secret bra. Love it!

ACM: What can we expect for you in the future and where can we find you on the web?

LOLA: Well currently I am looking for new representation. I hope to walk in Full Figured Fashion Week or Rip the Runway some day in the near future. But, for now you can check out my website at: www.lolaparker.info
